“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously.”
–Ralph Waldo Emerson
Each day of life itself is worthy of gratefulness. It provides us with a beautiful opportunity to begin again, to live intentionally, and to love others and ourselves. Every second that passes is an endless string of chances given to us to stop, take a deep breath, and really enjoy our surroundings. Amidst the everyday hustle and bustle of life, it can be easy to walk by a coffee shop and not even think about the rich aroma that just graced our senses or being so used to expressing our opinions online that we don’t think about what it’d be like to have no voice at all.
I’m also grateful for having parents that have raised me to love unconditionally, to respect others, and to follow my dreams. They have always encouraged me to surround myself with positive people, places, and experiences and it’s something I cherish to this day. It’s a mentality that’s enabled me to meet the beautiful and strong souls I’ve had the pleasure of crossing paths with throughout my life. It’s helped me through rough times, it’s guided me to good times, and it’s led me to where I am today.
Although I’ve always been grateful for these moments and people in my life, I don’t think I’ve been so in tune with it until now. Through different experiences and hearing people’s stories since starting Braided Bliss, I find myself more and more aware of my surroundings and the treasures in my life; from being surrounded by family and friends who truly care to having my health, a roof over my head, and the freedom to pursue my dreams.
Thanksgiving lasts for a day, but a grateful heart should last forever.
